A little late on the update but things have been pretty interesting as of late. March was basically my moving month as we moved into a new home out in Cambridge. A nice little three bedroom townhouse which is nice as we have much more space now and different floors so everyone can get their space needed.

A week ago I had four friends and myself playing EVE Online but now a week later it looks like the game has claimed three of them leaving just myself and one playing. Well, maybe just two but we’ll see.

Not going to lie, these lame wardecs on EVE University are really cramping my learning and enjoyment of the game so far due to E-uni standard operating procedures that state we can’t run missions or mine or anything unless it is in a fleet attacking our war targets.

Yesterday EVE Online released their patch entitled Dominion with some things I was pretty interested in seeing did not disappoint at all including some very impressive graphical updates!

Ok, so I can’t pretend to know what half the items in the patch notes are but I’m still excited that there is a patch coming out for the game. While some of the things that are really being added I have no concept of yet (sovereignty for example) but there are som nice tidbits in there for us noobs – I’m talking to you Molly, Erin, Jonathan and Michael (Thantos)!

I had just come off a super productive week last week at work and found a new game I was really enjoying that wasn’t sucking up every last hour so knew this week should go pretty well. Pound out some quality code time at work since that has been progressing nicely, enjoy some more time in EVE Online with the always amazing EVE University and the week was looking good.

Now that I have a few friends asking about it (and a handful joining), I figure I’ll explain WHY I am really digging this game and exactly why on Earth I would love “spreadsheets in space” as some call the game.

As I spend more time in EVE Online in the last week I am still holed up in a station waiting for a war to end (in EVE University we can’t run missions during a war) so that I can then do my tutorial quests in the career tracks. During this down time I have been reading and reading some more and there is A LOT of information out there.

The more time I spend in EVE Online the more I love this game. There really is a very steep learning curve and the amount of information out there can be very overwhelming. One haven for new players is an in game corporation called EVE University.
